About the Author
Robert C. Macomber, educated first in Mechanical Engineering, and then in Business Administration, has spent a career managing the financial affairs of industrial corporations, much of that time as Chief Financial Officer of Coppus Engineering Corporation in Worcester, Massachusetts.
This book relates a personal, behind-the-scenes experience during the acquisition phase as Coppus expanded its business through the acquisition of related companies as well as during the divestiture phase as Coppus sold all of its operating business activities to others. The value of this book lies in his descriptions of the human risks and challenges of the boardroom, the courtroom, the factory floor, and especially on the manager participants in the M&A process. The stories relate the real life excitement as well as some of the harsh disappointments that are a part of the world of business combinations.
